We never collect your general browsing history or the content of web pages you visit.

• Raw usage-analytics events are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated

• Payment info is processed only by Stripe; we do not store card data

• Save and sync vocabulary

• Provide quizzes, flashcards, and learning progress

• Manage subscriptions and billing

• Enforce plan limits and quotas (credits and Streaming Immersion usage)

Access to your data is strictly limited to Snapwords internal systems and necessary third-party processors:

• Stripe (for payment processing)

• Supabase (for database and authentication)

• Vercel (for hosting)

• Google (Gemini) and, for some languages, DeepSeek and Microsoft (Bing) — used only to generate translations and bilingual captions from the specific words or caption text you choose to translate. Only that text is sent to them, never your general browsing history or unrelated page content.

Some of these providers are located in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside your country (for example the EU/EEA), we rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards to protect it.

We do not sell your vocabulary data, browsing data, or personal information to any third parties.

• You can opt out of personalized Google advertising at https://adssettings.google.com, and out of many other vendors at https://optout.aboutads.info (or https://youronlinechoices.eu in the EU).

• We never use advertising data to personally identify you, and we never sell your personal information.

Snapwords is not for users under 13 (or 16 in the EU).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Our Chrome extension processes page text on your device to highlight your saved vocabulary words. We do not collect or store a general history of the URLs you visit or the full content of web pages.

When you add a word, we collect and store only the specific text you selected (and related learning data such as translations and progress).

When you use Streaming Immersion, the extension reads the identifiers needed for that platform (for example a YouTube video ID on YouTube) and requests bilingual captions from our servers. Captions are processed and loaded in short time windows (about 2 minutes) around your playback position for performance. Your Streaming Immersion quota is tracked on our servers based on the caption time ranges processed (recorded as seconds used), not exact second-by-second viewing. If you are not logged in, Streaming Immersion is limited to approximately 3 minutes per video or episode. We do not collect other viewing activity on those services, general browsing history, or unrelated page content for this feature.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We may update this policy from time to time.

Major changes will be communicated on the website.
